About the Role

Nursing & Midwifery Council is looking for a highly skilled Policy Lead to join its Registration & Revalidation Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of 16 staff in a fast-paced environment, driving excellence in customer service and achieving key performance indicators.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about policy development and implementation, with a strong background in management and leadership. You will work closely with two team managers to ensure that our high-quality risk-based investigations meet NMC evidential requirements and enable us to fulfill our statutory duty.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of 16 staff, providing guidance and direction to ensure consistent delivery of excellent customer service and achievement of key performance indicators.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with NMC legislation and regulation.
  • Manage a caseload of cases under investigation, conducting and leading proportionate investigations as required.
  • Use management information to monitor and identify adherence to targets and prepare reports.
  • Implement changes to operational processes and systems, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to services.
  • Provide expert advice on complex policy and legislation to internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have significant analytical and investigative experience, with excellent leadership and communication skills. A salary range of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum (dependent on experience) reflects the importance of this role in supporting our mission to protect the public and promote excellence in nursing and midwifery.
