Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Philanthropy Officer to join our team at Virginia State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors to support the university's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and research potential donors to develop relationships and secure funding for university priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with the advancement team to cultivate and solicit donors, adhering to the highest ethical standards.
  • Develop and implement effective development and donor services programs to support the university's mission.
  • Provide exceptional stewardship to donors, ensuring timely and effective communication and recognition.
  • Collaborate with university representatives to identify and pursue new funding opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible, and goal-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in fundraising, development, or a related field, preferably in higher education.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification.
  • Minimum of four years of progressive success in individual, corporate, and foundation donors fundraising.
  • Fundraising experience at a Historical Black College and University (HBCU) preferred.
