Job Description

The Rating Associate role at Moody's is a pivotal position in our team, requiring strong analytical skills and attention to detail. In this role, you will work closely with lead analysts to assign and monitor credit ratings, conduct research, and engage with issuers and market participants.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct day-to-day credit analysis related to ratings, research, presentations, and investor outreach.
  • Review financial spreadsheets and charts, analyze data and financial statements, build and update financial forecasts, and write analytical commentary in accordance with Moody's methodologies.
  • Assist with proprietary models and new financial projections as applicable, identifying trends in data, and applying analytical skills and judgment to form well-reasoned credit conclusions.
  • Develop a working knowledge of credit fundamentals through a review of components such as transaction documentation, cash flow analysis, or loss allocation rules.
  • Perform analytical tasks related to portfolio reviews and other credit projects.
  • Develop a working knowledge of Moody's methodologies and credit rating best practices, and apply these with guidance from lead analysts.
  • Collaborate with lead analysts in preparing the first draft of rating committee memos.
  • Develop the ability to understand and identify key factors that affect issuer credit ratings. Interpret and analyze financial data and other credit inputs provided by internal and external parties.
  • Monitor credit quality and issuer and/or industry trends by following market developments and relevant news events, analyzing issuer reporting (including, in some rating groups monitoring and attending earnings calls), and engaging with issuers directly for follow-up clarification and information.
  • Attend and participate in rating committee meetings, including to offer analysis and opinion where appropriate. Prepare credit estimates analysis used to assess elements of credit risk in certain rated transactions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification with strong academic performance.
  • Relevant experience in Insurance (including internships). Strong understanding of Insurance industry and its key drivers is required.
  • Accounting knowledge with a focus on financial analysis is preferred.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development (e.g. CFA, ACCA, FRM).
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Familiarity with relevant programming languages (e.g. Python/SQL) is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Organised and efficient, with strong attention to details and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive and able to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development within the company. The estimated salary for this role is approximately $95,000 per year, based on industry standards and location.
