Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to provide administrative and bookkeeping support to our finance team. As an integral part of our team, you will be responsible for managing invoices, reconciling company accounts, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily financial activities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Process daily cash receipts and ensure accurate recording
  • Issue sales invoices and perform monthly reconciliation of the sales ledger to the general ledger
  • Process purchase invoices, ensuring correct coding and VAT treatment, with monthly reconciliation to the general ledger
  • Establish and maintain processes for timely supplier payments
  • Reconcile bank, cash, credit card, and control accounts
  • Process expense claims and calculate agent's commission
  • Complete BACS payments, including international transactions
  • Respond to finance-related customer queries via email and telephone
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns
  • Compile and process payroll on a weekly and monthly basis, including SSP/SMP calculations
  • Maintain business MID (Motor Insurance Database) in liaison with the insurance broker
  • Assist auditors with preparation for the annual audit
Candidate Profile

We are looking for a candidate with proven experience in an accounts assistant role or similar, who possesses strong attention to detail and accuracy, and is able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite is also required. Knowledge of VAT regulations and payroll processes is advantageous.
