Derby, Derby, United Kingdom Rolls-Royce plc Full time

Join our team as a Reactor Plant Design Specialist in Derby and contribute to the development of cutting-edge nuclear propulsion systems. As a key member of our Submarines business, you will play a crucial role in designing, manufacturing, supplying, and supporting nuclear propulsion-related products and systems.

With your expertise in reactor performance analysis, you will help us push the boundaries of what is possible in nuclear engineering. You will analyse reactor performance for existing and new designs under normal, abnormal, and accident scenarios, developing a broad understanding of reactor plant operation and protection systems.

This is an outstanding opportunity to work on innovative technologies that deliver clean, safe, and competitive solutions to the world's vital power needs. Our Submarines business is responsible for designing, manufacturing, supplying, and supporting nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet.

You will have the opportunity to work with industry-standard codes and tools, such as RELAP5-3D, COBRA, TRACE, and NLOOP, to simulate reactor coolant systems. Excellent communication skills and a high level of drive are essential for this role, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

UK Security Check (SC) clearance is required for this position, and you must hold a UK nationality. We offer an estimated salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus exceptional benefits, including bonus, employee support assistance, and employee discounts.

There is also an opportunity for occasional business travel to our waterfront locations in Plymouth, Faslane, and Barrow-In-Furness. We value diversity and inclusion in the workplace and look forward to hearing from talented individuals who share our passion for innovation and excellence.
