About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planning Officer to join our Development Management team at the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering an efficient and effective development management service for half of the National Park.

Your primary responsibility will be to conserve the special qualities of this outstanding place, while delivering the housing and economic development necessary to sustain thriving communities. You will negotiate positive design solutions, provide professional advice on a broad spectrum of planning issues, manage applications efficiently, and present your recommendations clearly.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Take on an interesting caseload of planning applications and appeals
  2. Handle applications and appeals in line with our procedures and practices
  3. Present recommendations to the Planning Committee
  4. Give evidence at public inquiries and hearings
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience of development control work and a good understanding of the legislative, procedural, and policy framework within which the planning system operates. You will also need to be a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or be working towards becoming a Member.

Access to a car or a means of mobility support to meet the travel demands of the post is essential. If driving, you must have a current valid driving license and appropriate insurance.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of £34,834 to £39,185 per annum, plus a market rate supplement of £2,000. You will also receive a range of benefits, including holiday entitlement, a local government pension scheme, flexi-time, and employee discounts on various goods and services.
