Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Pontefract, West Yorkshire

Contract Type: Long Term

Leader Education is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work in specialist SEND schools based in Pontefract. These schools cater to students aged 4-19 with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Speech and Language Difficulties, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children and young people with SEND on a 1:1 or small group basis within a classroom setting.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and other support staff to provide a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Adapt and respond to the dynamic and individual needs of students.
  • Commit to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly those with Autism, SEMH needs, or complex learning difficulties.
  • A patient, nurturing approach to supporting students with a wide range of abilities and needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to adapt and respond to the dynamic and individual needs of students.
