London, Greater London, United Kingdom LONDON BOROUGH OF CAMDEN Full time

The London Borough of Camden is a pioneer in sustainable transportation, continually pushing the boundaries to create a cleaner and safer borough, as well as city centre. With initiatives such as Green Mobility Hubs, award-winning central London schemes like the West End Project, Healthy School Streets, and progressive parking policies, Camden stands out as a leader in transport-led regeneration projects.

As a Transport Infrastructure Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in delivering the ambitious goals of the Camden Transport Strategy by overseeing neighbourhood-based Healthy Streets projects across the Euston-King's Cross corridor and providing transport input on strategic planning initiatives in the Euston Station Masterplan area.

This fixed-term position (2 years) with potential extensions subject to funding availability offers an exciting opportunity to project manage multiple Healthy Streets projects focused on localised road safety, bus priority, walking, cycling, traffic reduction, and public realm improvement. You will also support the Principal Transport Planner in developing complex, area-wide low-traffic Safe & Healthy Streets projects in Euston and King's Cross.

Your key responsibilities include project planning, feasibility studies, community engagement, report writing, stakeholder management, monitoring, funding, budgeting, and financial controls. Thinking innovatively about how Healthy Streets projects can enhance our public realm and address the climate emergency through initiatives like parklets, urban greening, and more is essential.

You will work closely with colleagues from planning, regeneration, sustainability, highways, parking, and other departments to ensure that neighbourhood-based Healthy Streets projects align with and contribute to wider urban planning and sustainability initiatives, such as estate regeneration and the fulfillment of Camden's Climate Action Plan.

In addition, you will support the Principal Transport Planner in providing input into station development applications in the Euston Station Masterplan area, ensuring that transport impacts and opportunities are fully considered. This includes assisting planning colleagues in commenting on HS2 applications affecting Camden's highway network, such as lorry routes and utilities sites, to protect community interests.

We seek a highly experienced Transport Infrastructure Project Manager who can bring their expertise to support Camden Council's transport planning function. A strong background in project governance, information management, and collaborative relationship-building is essential. You should be able to provide senior leaders with confidence that projects meet time, cost, and quality criteria.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in project management, particularly in transport infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of healthy streets and strategic transport planning projects, including experience in providing input on planning applications and working on large-scale projects
  • Good partnership working skills and ability to develop effective stakeholder relations on transport matters
  • Capacity to communicate clearly and sensitively in community engagement activities and with elected members
  • Ability to oversee junior team members' workload and understand consultant operations
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills
  • Understanding of corporate policies and strategies
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject

Benefits: As a Transport Infrastructure Project Manager at Camden, you will receive a competitive salary (£58,000 - £65,000 per annum) and join a flexible working employer committed to inclusion and diversity. We welcome applications from diverse backgrounds, including Black, Asian, LGBT+, disabled, and neurodiverse communities.
