Job Overview

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Theatre Support Worker to join our team in the Operating Department at the Royal Blackburn Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality support to our clinical team, ensuring the smooth operation of our theatres and contributing to the delivery of excellent patient care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of operating theatres, including checking and cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Support the clinical team in the transfer of patients to and from the operating theatre, ensuring their safety and dignity at all times.
  • Contribute to the efficient running of the operating department, including the management of stock levels and the maintenance of accurate records.
  • Provide basic observational monitoring and documentation of patient care, as required.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care and contribute to the achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Proven experience of working in an operating department or a similar healthcare environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, staff and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to work across both sites, Burnley General Hospital and Blackburn Hospital, as required.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety, and to contributing to the delivery of excellent patient outcomes.
Person Specification
  • GCSE in English and Maths level A-C grade 4-8 or equivalent.
  • Diploma level 3 in healthcare/peri-operative support or 2 A levels.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team and to contribute to the achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
