Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Theatre Support Worker to join our team in the Theatres department at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. As a Theatre Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the clinical team to provide high-quality patient care in accordance with the 12 Fundamental Standards of Care and the 6Cs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the operating theatre environment, including checking, cleaning, and preparing transfer trolleys.
  • Establish a safe working environment for patients and staff, ensuring patient privacy and dignity are maintained at all times.
  • Transfer patients to and from clinical areas, reporting any problems or issues to relevant staff.
  • Receive patients in the reception area, checking patient details prior to procedures.
  • Prepare the clinical area prior to procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Safe moving and handling and positioning of patients.
  • Act as a circulating person according to own competencies to support the team during surgical procedures.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels of linen and clinical equipment, reporting any discrepancies to staff in charge.
  • Maintain appropriate department documentation, including theatreman, care plans, and electronic records in line with Trust Policy.
  • Refer any untoward incidents to the senior person on duty via the IR1 reporting system.
  • Ensure all patient property is returned/transferred to the appropriate ward area.
  • Report any concerns regarding patient safety, complaints, or safeguarding issues immediately to a senior member of staff.
