About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CCTV Controller to join our team at Eastgate Shopping Centre in Basildon. As a CCTV Controller, you will be responsible for monitoring and operating all security and fire systems in the control room, ensuring the safety and security of our customers and staff.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage all control room procedures in line with CCTV codes of practice.
  • Carry out regular camera patrols of the shopping centre, being proactive and responsive to incidents.
  • Issue access passes, keys, and radios, and maintain accurate issue logs.
  • Support and provide guidance to soft service managers and shopping centre management.
  • Liaise closely with statutory authorities and security supervisors to deal with incidents and provide information.
  • Monitor and operate CCTV cameras and associated equipment, ensuring continuous management and monitoring.
  • Respond to incidents, taking ownership and ensuring all key personnel are informed and escalation procedures are followed.
  • Manage and maintain records and reference materials, ensuring compliance with GDPR and associated regulations.
  • Manage access and egress to and from service yards and management offices.
  • Ensure the shopping centre is a safe and non-threatening environment for all customers and staff.

Person Specification

  • Strong IT ability, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience operating fire alarm systems in a busy environment.
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of the local area.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act quickly in emergencies or under pressure.
  • Smart appearance befitting the company.
  • Good organisational skills, flexibility, and reliability.
  • Awareness of current CCTV policies and data protection requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • A valid SIA Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) licence.
  • CCTV/Security control room experience.
