Job Overview

Oaklands Catholic School seeks a dedicated Education Support Specialist to join our team. As an integral part of our learning community, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and social development of our pupils.

About the Role

The successful candidate will assist in the implementation of Student Plans and Passports, help monitor progress against set targets, and provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom. You will work closely with teachers, specialists, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction of the SENCO and class teachers.
  • Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
  • Plan, deliver, and monitor basic skills intervention programs in accordance with guidance from the Intervention Coordinator and SENCO.
  • Supervise homework clubs and general support sessions to help students consolidate their learning.
  • Provide updates on student progress as required by the SENCO/class teacher.

Requirements

  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Strong commitment to team-working and partnership.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people.

Working Conditions

This is a part-time temporary appointment for 1 year with possible extension (term-time only). The successful candidate will work between 30-50 hours per week, with flexibility considered. Salary: £24,027 - £34,600 per annum (FTE), dependent on actual hours worked.
