Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Commissioning Engineer to join our Electrical Commissioning Team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the commissioning of electrical power and distribution systems on the Dreadnought submarines. You will work closely with the Engineering, Royal Navy, MOD, and Build Operations teams to ensure activities are undertaken in a safe and compliant manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To carry out routine work with limited supervision and have an understanding of safety consequences in a high-risk environment.
  2. Liaise/Interface with relevant stakeholders to ensure activities are undertaken in a safe and compliant manner.
  3. Instruct and mentor less experienced members of the team within your knowledge and competency.
  4. Responsible for researching, authoring, and reviewing design and test documentation.
  5. Keep full and accurate records of work activities carried out as required by policy, procedure, and legislation.
  6. Represent the Company on Factory Acceptance Tests and offsite test facilities, Contractors sea trials, and other outworking requirements with scope for overseas travel.
  7. Responsible for delivering assigned activities in line with Company policy, procedures, and legislation.

Requirements:

  1. Knowledge of AC and DC Electrical Generation and Power distribution systems.
  2. Understanding of the role and how T&C contributes to the wider business and UK enterprise.
  3. Knowledge of safety controls and procedures in a high-risk environment.
  4. Aware of Nuclear Site/Authorisation Conditions.
  5. Experience working with Distribution Systems, Fire Protection Systems, and Electrical Testing.
  6. Knowledge of Instrumentation Systems including; Electrostatic Discharge, Low Voltage Control, Data Communications, PLCs & Fibre Optics.

About the Role: You will be part of the team responsible for commissioning the first-of-class electrical power and distribution plant on the first-of-class, next-generation of Dreadnought submarines. The scope of the Dreadnought Programme is the delivery of four SSBNs to the Royal Navy to maintain Continuous At Sea Deterrence (CASD). We offer relocation support across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
