Senior Care Manager

We are seeking an experienced Senior Care Manager to join our team at Hallandhouse, a leading independent care home. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care and support services to our residents.
Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the effective planning of shifts, allocating staff members and ensuring their skills match resident needs.
- Liaise with external professionals to ensure staff understand guidelines and implement them accordingly.
- Administer medications safely, communicate changes to staff, and record medication errors.
- Maintain accurate medication stock counts, order, and dispose of medications according to company policy.
- Monitor residents' wellbeing, access to health professionals, and coordinate admissions/discharges.
- Act in residents' best interests, support DOLS appointments, and liaise with external professionals.
- Review and update care plans when changes occur or individual needs change.
- Support staff with healthy eating initiatives, organize house meetings, and encourage participation.
- Monitor safety, record incidents/accidents, and implement Positive Behaviour Support plans.
- Promote 'Dignity and Respect' among residents and staff.
- Maintain residents' privacy and address any compromises.
Operational Service Delivery:
- Review and plan staff rotas, filling gaps with bank staff or agency personnel as directed by the registered manager.
- Develop warm relationships with residents to encourage expression of needs, views, and concerns.
- Monitor staff absences/lateness, address issues, and escalate repeat problems to the registered manager.
- Organize staff house meetings and plan events such as birthdays and anniversaries.
- Delegate tasks to staff, ensuring they have necessary skills/knowledge.
- Evaluate staff competencies through assessments on safe medication administration, mental capacity, and other relevant areas.
- Monitor daily paperwork completion, conduct spot checks, and maintain assistive technology.
- Conduct audits to maintain residents' safety and security.
- Report health/safety issues to management and follow up with maintenance.
- Maintain communication with residents' families/friends, informing them about changes in care.
- Conduct weekly fire drills and maintain accurate records.
- Attend management meetings, provide updates on changes in care, behaviour, and health concerns.
Training and Development:
- Lead and motivate staff to perform their best, providing coaching and daily supervision.
- Conduct monthly supervision meetings, encouraging staff participation and ownership of delegated tasks.
- Act as a role model, addressing inappropriate behaviour, poor conduct, and negative attitudes.
- Provide constructive feedback, set achievable goals, and ensure staff understand expectations.
- Support staff in implementing resident behaviour and health guidelines, help them meet training requirements, and inform the registered manager about training needs.
- Contribute to service users' reviews, provide verbal/written reports, and attend Support Planning meetings.
