About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Resilience Officer to join our team at GMCA. As a key member of our Greater Manchester Resilience Unit, you will play a crucial role in supporting emergency planning, response, and resilience services across the city-region.

As Urban Resilience Specialist, you will work closely with stakeholders, including Councils and partner organizations, to develop and deliver specific programmes of work themed around particular risks, response capabilities, and resilience issues.

Your primary objective will be to ensure that our emergency preparedness and response arrangements are effective and efficient, and that we are well-prepared to respond to any emergency situation that may arise.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support the effective development and delivery of emergency preparedness and response arrangements in Greater Manchester's Councils.
  2. Develop and deliver specific programmes of work themed around particular risks, response capabilities, and resilience issues.
  3. Work with Business Partners, team members, and GM Councils to provide a focused, civil contingencies service that ensures business and civil contingencies agendas are delivered.
  4. Be part of an on-call 365/24/7 rota, providing a prompt response to emergencies within Greater Manchester and providing expert advice to Councils.
  5. Participate in multi-agency work to build on and strengthen emergency preparedness, response, and recovery arrangements tasked out and coordinated through the Greater Manchester Resilience Forum.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the capacity to work with senior managers, operational staff, and different stakeholders. You will also need to have the drive, enthusiasm, and experience to support the shaping and delivery of services to meet the resilience needs of the GM Councils.

You will also need to have a valid driver's license and be able to provide your own car for use at work, as this post is a designated Casual Car User.

Please note that this post requires Non-Police Personnel Vetting, and applicants must have a minimum of 3 years UK residency to be eligible.
