Job Title: Assistant Catering Manager

V-Recruit is partnering with a forward-thinking Multi-Academy Trust to recruit an experienced Assistant Catering Manager for one of their Secondary academies in Scunthorpe, Northeast Lincolnshire.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and organized individual to assist in managing the academy's catering provision, ensuring the delivery of healthy, high-quality meals that meet Nutritional Standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning, preparation, cooking, and presenting food to meet quality, cost, and food and health and safety standards.
  • Develop and implement daily menus, making provision for special dietary requirements and ordering stock accordingly.
  • Ensure the academy's reputation for excellence in food and service is upheld.
  • Assist the Catering Manager in maintaining stock levels and completing stock returns by the required date.
  • Deputize for the Catering Manager in their absence.
  • Organize and supervise the team of cooks, catering staff, and breaktime supervisors, addressing any issues that arise.
  • Transport and serve meals for students, staff, and functions/events.
  • Wash dishes, cutlery, and catering equipment.
  • Establish and maintain cleaning schedules, ensuring compliance with HACCP, Health and Safety policy, and COSHH Regulations.
  • Ensure all equipment is well-maintained and in good working order, recommending renewal and replacement as needed.
  • Comply with the academy's Child Safeguarding Procedures, including regular liaison with the Designation Child Safeguarding Person over any safeguarding issues or concerns.
Job Specifics:

This is a part-time role, 26.25 hours per week, with working hours from 8:45am to 2pm, Monday to Friday.

The actual salary is £15,156-£15,859 per annum, with 12 equal salary payments.

Please note that this role is term-time only, with 38 weeks per annum, and you will have 12 weeks of non-working time per year, as directed by the school's term dates.

Candidate Requirements:
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene qualifications.
  • Some supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience in preparing, cooking, and presenting food to meet quality, cost, and food and health and safety standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to plan while staying calm under pressure.
  • Experience in cooking/catering for large numbers.
