Hospital Catering Assistant

Job Overview
The role of a Hospital Catering Assistant is to provide a high-quality catering service to patients in a busy acute hospital. This involves working in a team to prepare and serve meals, as well as maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Main Responsibilities
- To comply with all Trust policies and procedures, including Health and Safety at Work, Fire Regulations, and Food Hygiene Regulations.
- To receive and inspect all goods delivered to the Catering Department.
- To maintain accurate stock control and rotation.
- To conduct weekly stock checks.
- To assist in the delivery of ingredients to the main kitchen and wards.
- To maintain a clean and tidy working environment.
- To assist in the set up for meal service.
- To assist and support the Chef/Supervisor in the ordering of goods and stores.
- To work in a range of extreme temperatures relevant to the production of food.
- To maintain a high standard of personal hygiene.
- To assist in the plating of patient meals.
- To ensure any issues are highlighted to the Chef/Supervisor.
- To assist in the strip down and clean of the area following a meal service.

Education and Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- Basic Numeracy and Literacy Skills.
- Experience of customer service work and interacting with customers.
- Must hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification or be willing to work towards this.
Occupational Experience
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of the NHS or a caring environment.
