Job Description

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Tutor to provide one-on-one support to students in need of academic assistance.

About the Role

This is a temporary position, with the possibility of becoming permanent in the future. As a Tutor, you will work with students who are out of school or unable to access education in a traditional setting due to various reasons such as:

  • Permanent exclusion due to behavior
  • Anxiety, depression, prior trauma, or other mental health difficulties
  • Additional needs, including ASD, speech and language difficulties, ADHD, physical disabilities, or medical conditions
  • Students who are Looked After Children (LAC) or new to the area

Your primary responsibility will be to provide 1:1 tuition in Maths and English at functional skills level 1 or 2 and GCSE level. Tuition sessions will range from one hour a day to four hours a day per student and will take place in the student's residential or foster home or in a local library.

Requirements

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Compassionate and committed to making a positive impact on vulnerable young students
  • Nurturing and patient, with a passion for teaching and learning
  • Confident in dealing with challenging behavior
  • Interested in or experienced in counseling, mental health, and wellbeing
  • Fully qualified teachers or unqualified teachers with a minimum of 3 years' experience in planning and delivering academic work
  • Enhanced DBS Child Only
