Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mentorship Specialist to join our team at a Pupil Referral Unit in Chorlton, Manchester.

The successful candidate will work with students aged 11-16 who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) due to their additional needs. This role is an outreach position, where the teacher will be out in the community, bringing education to the most hard-to-reach students.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching assistance or tutoring, preferably in PRUs or SEMH schools. They will also have experience working with students who have experienced trauma, neglect or chaotic home lives, or a combination of these factors.

This is a temporary-to-permanent position, with the potential for extension or permanent employment based on performance. The salary for this role is £95 per day, paid for full-time hours (Monday to Friday, term time only).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster strong relationships with pupils, particularly those who face barriers in the classroom
  • Use mentoring skills to help individual students engage with the school
  • Support pupils in both the classroom and on a more vocational basis, outside of the classroom

Requirements:

  • A strong background in teaching assistance or tutoring, preferably in PRUs or SEMH schools
  • Previous experience in a similar setting
  • Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, GCSE Maths and English, and computer literacy
  • A valid DBS certificate and right to work in the UK
