Role Overview

Barts Health NHS Trust is a leading healthcare provider in east London, and we're seeking an experienced Diagnostic Equipment Specialist to join our team. This fixed-term 9-month contract will cover the temporary absence of an engineer at Barts Hospital.

As a Diagnostic Equipment Specialist, you'll be part of a dynamic team supporting and maintaining specialist clinical and dental equipment across various NHS and private healthcare organisations with whom we have Service Level Agreements or contracts.

This role requires flexibility, as you'll need to work a 7-day week system. In return, we offer comprehensive training opportunities, including in-house and formal manufacturers' courses, to support your career development.

To be successful in this role, you'll have extensive technical experience in equipment maintenance and management, ideally with a Voluntary Register of Clinical Technologists status and a BEng/BSc in Engineering or Physical Science or equivalent qualifications and experience.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Scheduled preventative maintenance, servicing, non-routine repair, calibration, safety and acceptance testing on a wide range of medical equipment
  • Providing cover for the Equipment Library Service
  • Liaising with clinical and technical staff to identify faults and repair equipment, including working in clinical areas and collaborating with manufacturers as needed

Key Requirements

Essential skills and qualifications include:

  • Advanced electronic engineering skills, including test and measuring equipment usage, component handling, and assembly
  • Intermediate mechanical engineering skills, encompassing test and measuring equipment usage, assembly, and bonding of components
  • Ability to recognise hazards, risk assess, and maintain safe working practices and environments
  • Proficiency in MS Windows and Office applications, file management, and document setup
  • Experience in using computerised equipment management database systems

A competitive salary of £35,000 - £40,000 per annum reflects the importance of this role in maintaining our high-quality services.
