About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager to join our team at Turner Lovell. As a key member of our project delivery team, you will be responsible for the successful execution of HVDC projects, ensuring timely delivery, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver the HVDC project scope of work, ensuring close adherence to the global time schedule and coherency of links between engineering activities and other project functions.
  • Carry out regular and thorough reviews of project progress, assessing time, cost, quality, and risks, and anticipate and mitigate project delivery issues.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive project reports as part of the governance of the project and as part of the reporting process.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources and collaboration with project functions, planning and managing technical interfaces, and putting in place exchange interface sheets with partners, customers, and third-party contractors.
  • Accountable for project delivery Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery and budget for PDG scope, including suitable quality of partner documents.
  • Provide leadership and support to the project team, ensuring the reference solution and agreed gaps are delivered in accordance with project technical specifications, and rigorously enforcing the change process and policy on any deviations.
  • Lead and direct project teams to deliver PDG engineering scope according to DOR and manage day-to-day activities.
  • Motivate and empower project engineering teams, providing insights and rewards, and feedback on project team performance to their respective functional managers during performance reviews.
  • Assess risks, including risk mitigation plans, and keep up-to-date risk registers, conducting project risk review meetings and updating risk registers with mitigation plans when required.
  • Request and attend customer technical meetings as needed, checking the effectiveness of design against delivery of contract requirements within project budget, and looking for global cost optimization in all design phases.
  • Integrate EHS requirements based on project strategy, deploying HAZID sessions at different project phases, and actively participating in defining corrective actions when work is unsafe or when an uncontrolled risk is observed.
  • Apply design subcontracting processes and support sourcing and procurement in the definition of supplier lists, equipment ITO, and FAT procedure reviews, and during post-order stages according to project strategy.
  • Support site organization during site preparation and throughout construction and commissioning stages, when required, organizing input data acquisition for O&MM & As built, and organizing engineering project teams ROE according to unit process.
  • Comply with quality procedures, work instructions, and processes defined at unit, project level, and in EMH, reporting or resolving any non-conformances and processes in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree level or equivalent education in Electrical Engineering.
  • Extensive experience, of which 2 to 4 projects in a position of Project Engineering Manager, managing medium-sized projects, across several project contexts (technology, scope, contract environment) in EPC type environments in T&D, Power Gen, or Oil&Gas industries.
  • Mastering of involved disciplines (process, tools, technical aspects) and successful experience in management of multi-disciplinary teams with multiple interfaces and with products coming from several countries.
  • Willingness to work in different locations for short or medium periods and to travel worldwide.
  • Fluent in English and demonstrated presentation skills and ability to succinctly communicate complex messages.
  • Demonstrates ownership & accountability, judgment and decision making, influences & inspires team, relationship building skills, and strong technical problem-solving skills and experience, creates a vision and strategy, and has passion for the role.
