Project Engineering Manager Job Description

Turner Lovell is seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager to lead the delivery of HVDC projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the engineering scope, budget, and quality of the project, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and deliver the HVDC engineering scope, ensuring adherence to the global time schedule and coherency of links between engineering activities and other project functions.
  • Carry out regular reviews of the progress and delivery of the engineering scope, assessing time, cost, quality, and risks.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive project reports, ensuring governance and reporting requirements are met.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources, working in accordance with established processes and collaborating with PDG functions.
  • Plan and manage technical interfaces, exchange interface sheets with partners, customers, and third-party contractors.
  • Accountable for project delivery KPIs, including on-time delivery and budget for PDG scope, with suitable quality of partner documents.
  • Provide leadership and support to solution engineers, ensuring reference solutions and agreed gaps are delivered in accordance with project technical specifications.
  • Lead and direct project teams to deliver PDG engineering scope according to DOR, managing day-to-day activities.
  • Motivate and empower project engineering teams, providing insights and rewards, and feedback to functional managers during performance reviews.
  • Assess risks, including risk mitigation plans, and maintain an up-to-date risk register.
  • Conduct project risk review meetings and update the risk register with mitigation plans when required.
  • Request and attend customer technical meetings as needed.
  • Check the effectiveness of design against delivery of contract requirements within project budget and look for global cost optimization in all design phases.
  • Integrate EHS requirements based on project strategy and deploy HAZID sessions at different project phases.
  • Apply design subcontracting processes and support sourcing and procurement in defining supplier lists, equipment ITO, and FAT procedure reviews.
  • Support site organization during site preparation and throughout construction and commissioning stages, as required.
  • Organize input data acquisition for O&MM and as-built documentation.
  • Organize engineering project teams' ROE according to unit process.
  • Comply with quality procedures, work instructions, and processes defined at unit, project, and EMH levels, and report or resolve non-conformances in a timely manner.
Requirements:
  • Engineering degree level or equivalent education in Electrical Engineering.
  • Extensive experience, with 2-4 projects in a Project Engineering Manager role, managing medium-sized projects across various project contexts in EPC environments in T&D, Power Gen, or Oil&Gas industries.
  • Mastering of involved disciplines, tools, and technical aspects, with successful experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams with multiple interfaces and products from several countries.
  • Willingness to work in different locations for short or medium periods and travel worldwide.
  • Fluent in English and demonstrated presentation skills and ability to succinctly communicate complex messages.
  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability, judgment and decision-making, influences and inspires teams, relationship-building skills, and strong technical problem-solving skills and experience, creates a vision and strategy, and has passion for the role.
