University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Nurse Specialist - Hepatitis Care. We are looking for a registered nurse with experience in offender healthcare settings and a passion for providing specialist nursing advice to patients with hepatitis C.
About the Role:We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced nurse to work closely with our Hepatitis CNS team in delivering patient-focused care. The post holder will help run a nurse-led service in treating patients with hepatitis C in the prison, assist with testing, and link in with the Hepatitis C Trust and other health and justice partners.
The successful candidate will be offered support and supervision by senior CNS team members and will undertake a competence-based training programme. This is a part-time position with an office base at Nuffield House at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Main Responsibilities:- Provide specialist nursing advice to patients referred for specialist intervention, care, and support within the hepatitis services.
- Liaise closely with the Hepatitis C Trust prison peers and participate in the "Follow Me Project" to track patients after release to ensure SVR 12 test outcomes.
- Assess communication, educational, and information needs for patients and devise plans to ensure needs are met.
- Report and raise concerns about Safeguarding with HMP prison staff and access advice and support when needed.
- Ensure effective handover of patients between healthcare professionals using various communication aids, focusing on offender release into the community.
- Make verbal and written recommendations about changes required in clinical and network environments.
- Develop complex multi-professional working relationships with numerous stakeholders.
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
- Evidence of post-registration CPD and post-registration qualification in the relevant area of speciality or professional knowledge supplemented by specialist experience and short courses to FHEQ Level 6.
The estimated salary for this role is £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
