Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Part Time Shift Leader to join our team at SCS Railways. As a key member of our tunneling operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient execution of tunneling works on site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic guidance to project teams based on your extensive knowledge and experience of tunneling projects.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, and advise senior management on opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with site engineers to ensure that all setting-out and quality control procedures are carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Communicate effectively with works managers, foremen, gangers, operatives, and subcontractors to ensure a clear understanding of project information.
  • Develop and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), Plans, and Procedures for tunneling works, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with construction and quality teams to complete Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for the control of tunneling works.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed site diaries, including records of changes, variations, subcontractor attendance, and work-related discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with client and joint venture partners' environment and sustainability policies, processes, and statutory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Experience working as a shift manager in a tunneling environment.
  • IOSH or SMSTS certification desired, SSSTS minimum.
  • Tunnel Safety Training Scheme (TSTS) certification.
