Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineering Specialist to lead a team of 4 and oversee the delivery of data engineering capabilities across Aviva.

The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes and develop innovative solutions using cloud-based technologies.

This role is part of the Solutions Team in IWR, which focuses on enablement and introducing new technologies into our tech stack.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cloud technologies, particularly AWS, and experience with distributed frameworks like Apache Spark and modern OLAP platforms such as Snowflake.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of 4 data engineers
  • Delivering wider capability across Aviva
  • Managing stakeholder relationships
  • Developing and implementing cloud-based solutions using AWS and other relevant tools
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering
  • Strong expertise in cloud technologies, particularly AWS
  • Experience with distributed frameworks like Apache Spark
  • Knowledge of modern OLAP platforms such as Snowflake
  • Excellent leadership and management skills
