About the Role

MRA Search is seeking an experienced Information Governance Specialist to join our client, a leading US law firm. As a key member of the firm's Information Governance team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing the firm's Information Governance strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electronic Records Management: Lead the development and optimization of processes for managing electronic records, including email and document management systems. You will be responsible for overseeing the processing of electronic records related to the onboarding of new lawyers, client requests, and the transfer of matters to the firm.
  • Data Migration and Archiving: Provide support and guidance for the migration of electronic records from shared drives to archival storage, ensuring that data integrity and metadata are maintained throughout the records' lifecycle.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess risks related to electronic record management, collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement action plans to mitigate these risks effectively.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously assess and suggest improvements to the firm's information governance processes, ensuring they meet industry best practices and the firm's compliance needs.
  • Client Support and Training: Act as a subject matter expert, interfacing with practice groups and administrative departments to promote best practices in information governance. Provide training and guidance on the use of the firm's document management systems and email management.
  • Liaison with IT and Security: Work closely with IT and IT Security teams to ensure that information governance requirements are integrated into system designs and that security protocols align with industry standards and firm policies.
Requirements
  • Experience: At least four years of experience in records management, litigation support, or IT within a law firm or similar professional environment. Proven experience in managing information management systems is essential.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of information management systems such as iManage, Prosperoware, and Microsoft 365. Familiarity with archival storage, data migration methodologies, and secure file transfer protocols is required.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively with lawyers, IT professionals, and administrative staff.
  • Qualifications: A degree in Information Science, Library Science, or a related field is preferred. Certifications such as CRM, IGP, or CIPP are desirable.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail, particularly when handling complex data management tasks.
