Welding Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Welding Manager to join our team at SGS. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the welding department, ensuring the highest levels of customer service, and driving continuous improvement in operating efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the welding department, overseeing day-to-day activities and ensuring compliance with quality procedures and contractual requirements.
- Lead the team in providing exceptional customer service, ensuring customer requirements are met and exceeded where possible.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operating efficiencies, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
- Collaborate with production and operations management to ensure continuity of service and prioritize workload in the best interests of the business.
- Ensure full compliance with SGS's Code of Integrity & Professional Conduct and Equality & Diversity policy.
- HNC and/or formal qualification in welding technology.
- CSWIP Level (SWI) certification.
- Registration as an approved invigilator through successful completion of a written in-house exam and accompanied on-site invigilation of a joining procedure or qualification.
- Clean driving license.
- PCN Level 2 in Weld Inspection.
- IWE certification.
- Qualification as an International/European Welding Specialist.
- Registration as an Engineering Technician with the UK Engineering Council.
- Degree educated in a relevant discipline.
- Achieved or working towards Chartered Engineer status.
The successful candidate will be based at our Hybrid UK location, working 40 hours Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. The role will involve regular communication with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders, and may require occasional travel to other SGS locations.
