Driver Manager Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Driver Manager to join our Crewe Driver Management Team at Avanti West Coast. As a key member of our operational team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the competence of our drivers and maintaining high standards in operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and develop the competence of drivers through proactive and reactive improvement plans.
  • Support the safe introduction of new drivers, routes, traction, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with Operations Standards, Network Rail, and staff representatives to implement strategies for improving operational safety performance and driver capability.
  • Investigate operational and occupational safety incidents to establish causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Work closely with other teams to formulate and deliver initiatives to improve train service performance and resilience.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years' current UK mainline competence as a train driver.
  • Detailed knowledge of Avanti West Coast routes, infrastructure, and rolling stock.
  • Understanding of competency techniques and operational risk management.
  • Basic knowledge of HR processes and practices.
  • Familiarity with IT systems such as Microsoft Office applications, TRUST, Bugle, and OTDR analysis.
  • A coaching leadership style and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make decisions based on factual information and excellent listening skills.
  • Experience in leading teams and managing people and processes.
What We Offer:

A competitive salary of £75, rising to £79 after 6 months, and the opportunity to work with a leading railway operator in a challenging and rewarding role.
