We are seeking a highly skilled Driver Management Specialist to join our team at Avanti West Coast. As a key member of our operational delivery team, you will be responsible for upholding high standards in operational delivery. You will apply your mainline train driver proficiency and experience to assure the competence of your team of drivers through assessment, proactive and reactive improvement plans, and application of the competency management system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the safe introduction of new drivers, route, traction, and equipment
- Implement strategies to improve operational safety performance and continually improve driver capability and skills
- Undertake detailed and quality investigation of operational and occupational safety incidents with a focus on establishing causes and implementing recitative actions
- Work closely with Operations Standards, Network Rail, and staff representatives to formulate and deliver initiatives to improve train service performance and resilience
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years' current UK mainline competence as a train driver
- Detailed knowledge of Avanti West Coast routes, infrastructure, and rolling stock
- Understanding of competency techniques and operational risk management
- Basic knowledge of HR processes and practices
- Familiarity with IT systems such as Microsoft Office applications, TRUST, Bugle, and OTDR analysis
- A coaching leadership style and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to make decisions based on factual information and excellent listening skills
- Experience in leading teams and managing people and processes
Salary: £75, rising to £79, after 6 months
