Senior Control Systems Engineer

CV Library is seeking a highly skilled Senior Control Systems Engineer to join their team in the West Midlands.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Control Systems Engineer to work with a world-leading manufacturer of automated machinery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and reviewing machine control systems, as well as integrating and validating new product designs.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Collaborating with Controls Engineers, Applications Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers to provide machine control system solutions.
  2. Designing, developing, and reviewing system software, including machine start-up and debug.
  3. Integrating and validating new product designs.
  4. Supporting software QA.
  5. Interfacing with hardware design and development.
  6. Interpreting controls systems requirements from customer specifications and project scope documents.
  7. Developing technical and electrical controls systems requirements.
  8. Developing machine sequence and control flow charts.
  9. Developing Human Machine Interface programs for machine control.
  10. Developing design documentation, including theory of operation, help files, and machine set-up and operation instructions.
  11. Providing technical support to Service Technicians and customers, as needed.
  12. Participating in efforts for the design, architecture, and programming conventions of Controls applications.

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Proficiently utilized programming and methods, including Ladder Logic and ST/SCL for machine control.
  2. Proficiently integrated safety control systems and methods using Siemens and Allen Bradley technologies to comply with ISO machine design and safety standards.
  3. Created, read, and edited electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control station layouts, electrical enclosure panel layouts, BOM, and all electrical control hardware related documentation.
  4. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  5. Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
  6. Self-starter – the ability to work independently without continual supervision.
  7. Attention to detail.
  8. Results-driven and goal-oriented.
  9. Computer literate (ACAD, MS Office, CRM, email, and internet/intranet).
  10. Focused, detail-oriented team member with high standards and a solid work ethic.
  11. Strong desire and drive to succeed.
  12. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  13. Willingness to travel.
