About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Officer to join our team at Westminster City Council. As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a crucial role in enforcing environmental health legislation and policies, ensuring the wellbeing of local residents.

With a focus on noise, air quality, and contaminated land, you will work closely with our Environmental Sciences team to monitor the impact of construction sites across the borough. You will respond to public complaints, conduct site visits, inspections, and audits to determine whether sites are meeting our Code of Construction Practice.

To excel in this role, you will need great communication skills, the ability to manage challenging stakeholders, and an unshakeable determination to make a positive environmental difference. You will also have the opportunity to work with members of the public and stakeholders, handling their complaints and identifying ways to use regulatory powers to resolve conflict.

We are looking for someone with great environmental health knowledge and a relevant degree or diploma. Experience of working in the field of noise or air quality is highly desirable, as is the ability to work with regulatory powers to resolve conflict.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce environmental health legislation and policies
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with our Code of Construction Practice
  • Respond to public complaints and handle stakeholder relationships
  • Work with members of the public and stakeholders to resolve conflict and improve environmental health
