Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Designer to join our team at Build A Rocket Boy. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and taking ownership of complex gameplay systems and features on our project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gameplay Systems Design: Design and implement complex gameplay systems and features that meet the project's requirements.
  • Scripting and Implementation: Implement missions, systems, and activities using code-based scripting tools.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments to develop extensive cross-discipline features.
  • Tuning and Balancing: Tune and balance missions and game features to ensure a high-quality player experience.
  • Tool and Workflow Improvement: Collaborate with engineering to define and implement improvements to tools and workflows.
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as a technical point of contact for various features and gameplay systems you develop.
  • Delivery and Quality: Deliver high-quality work on time and mentor and guide other members of the Technical Design team.
Requirements
  • Experience: Experience as a Technical Designer in the game industry.
  • Scripting Knowledge: Strong knowledge of a technical scripting language with Lua being preferred.
  • Game Design Knowledge: Proven experience contributing to content in different game design areas.
  • Complex Gameplay Systems: Previous experience designing and implementing complex gameplay systems.
  • Game Design Workflows: Deep knowledge and understanding of game design workflows.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail and a drive to create polished, high-quality work.
  • Passion for Games: Passion for videogames and a broad grasp of game types and systems.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Visual Scripting: Experience with visual scripting tools would be an advantage.
