Scenic Workshop Manager

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Scenic Workshop Manager to lead our scenic construction team and oversee the day-to-day operations of our workshop and scenic warehouse. The successful candidate will have a strong background in creative scenic construction and live event production technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and develop the scenic construction team, including line management and training
• Manage the day-to-day tasks of the workshop and scenic warehouse team
• Oversee the construction and preparation process of our equipment to ensure high standards and deadlines are met
• Maintain high standards of health and safety
• Manage stock and consumables, and maintain workshop equipment and tools
• Provide input on construction design and material specification for custom scenic elements
• Participate in hands-on construction of scenic products
• Communicate regularly with the Head of Scenic for day-to-day and forward planning
Requirements:
• At least 5 years' experience in the live events industry with a specialism in scenic construction
• Self-motivation, with the ability to lead by example and work as part of a team
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and CAD plans
• Good working knowledge of workshop tools and machinery
• Excellent carpentry skills and working knowledge of various materials
• Experience with CNC machines an advantage
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Meticulous planning and attention to detail
• Ability to plan and prioritise multiple jobs on a daily basis
• Ability to problem solve and work to deadlines
• Flexibility and a customer-focused attitude
• Keen eye for detail and high standards of presentation
• Strong IT skills

Working Hours:
We require our employees to have a flexible approach to their working hours, with a typical working day from 08:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday. However, work outside of these hours and at weekends may be required due to the nature of our industry.
