Job Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Transition Support Coordinator to join our team at the Met Office. As a key member of our Transition and Data Quality team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth transition of new environmental observing instrumentation and networks into operational support.

Reporting directly to the Stores manager, you will work closely with various teams to provide vital support and ensure governance is followed, maintaining the appropriate standards to retain Service Acceptance status.

Key responsibilities will include working as part of a team to promote the Met Office's Service Acceptance Policies and best practices across Observations, supporting Observations network managers with the implementation of the service mapping process, and reviewing and assisting with the maintenance of Release Management controlled documentation.

Additionally, you will provide operational support to Stores, including cover for internal stock order processing and asset management of equipment, regular asset audits, and process reviews. You will also support the Head of Transition and Data Quality, maintaining the T&DQ Risk Register and providing a secretariat function for T&DQ monthly progress meetings.

As a Transition Support Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, including the design and implementation of new processes associated with our Transforming Service Management project.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Proven ability to work effectively without detailed supervision, on multiple tasks and across multiple teams.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to analyse information from multiple sources and provide reports in multiple formats and suitable for varying audiences.
  • Expertise in governance processes and the ability to identify and implement process improvement.
  • Good working knowledge of SharePoint and an understanding of the importance of document management and version control.
  • Awareness of ITIL service management principles and willingness to learn with a view to obtain appropriate qualification.
