Rehabilitation Psychiatrist

We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist in the North Norfolk Community Learning Disability Team to provide clinical leadership and expertise in the assessment and management of complex mental health needs in individuals with intellectual disabilities. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of the service.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake clinical assessments and develop treatment plans for patients with complex mental health needs, including those with intellectual disabilities and challenging behavior.
- Provide specialist advice and support to other healthcare professionals, including junior doctors and nurses, to ensure effective care delivery.
- Participate in the development and implementation of service strategies to improve patient outcomes, including the development of new treatment pathways and service models.
- Contribute to the education and training of junior doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to enhance their knowledge and skills in the assessment and management of intellectual disability and complex mental health needs.
- Engage with local community groups and stakeholders to promote the service and raise awareness of the needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The successful candidate will be a specialist in the Psychiatry of Intellectual Disability with a strong track record of clinical leadership and service development. They will hold a medical qualification and be registered with the General Medical Council. They will also have a higher degree in a relevant field and a strong publication record in the area of intellectual disability and complex mental health needs. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and engage with patients, families, and carers.
