Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our team at an established College in Oxford City Centre. As a key member of our Front of House team, you will provide exceptional service to our clients, including Fellows, students, staff, and conference delegates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and serving of food and beverages in the College Hall
  • Provide a high level of customer service, ensuring a positive experience for all clients
  • Work collaboratively with the Duty Chef and other team members to maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Assist with food preparation, including laying out food for the self-service lunchtime salad bar and assisting with the preparation of buffet food for staff lunches
  • Clear away unused food and clean the Servery after meals, ensuring that the required standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times
  • Assist with the cleaning of tables in Hall after meal service and assist with the moving of tables and chairs in Hall, as required
  • Regularly wash and sanitise the wash-up tables on either side of the glass wash machine and clean fridges, shelves, sinks, and the ice machine in the Servery
  • Take the dirty laundry from the Hall and Kitchen to the Linen Room and make coffee and clean, rinse, and/or de-scale the coffee machine, as appropriate
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a similar role or a passion for working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and clients
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Basic food safety and hygiene knowledge, with a willingness to learn and develop skills

Please note that during conference periods, the duties/hours of work may vary according to the needs of the conferences present in College, and the role may have a greater emphasis on providing food service to delegates.
