As a Product Applications Engineer (PAE) in the Transmission Protection, Automation, and Control Product Line (TX PAC PL) team, you will be responsible for defining and delivering a differentiated protection relay offer for product applications and software-defined substation automation solutions for grid digitalization, driving sustainable and profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Progress the release of relay applications and software-defined substation automation solutions aligned with relevant operating rhythms for the portfolio, including multi-generation product plans, business plans, and NPI cycles.
  • Drive GridBeats Integrated Digital Substation (iDS) system and iDS product level application strategy, worldwide in coordination with Grid Automation regions.
  • Support customer connections to link performance with customer expectations.
  • Support Product Managers to promote an impactful product/solution offering by analysing and providing feedback on in-depth technical/functional requirements from the market, as specified mainly by the SDSU Regional teams, technology progression, industry norms and standards advancements, competitor analysis (product gaps), personal/team expertise, and opportunities for differentiation and revenue growth.
  • Support delivery of detailed product/application training for Sales personnel and directly to customers where required, e.g. APPS course.
  • Support technical aspects of product launches, e.g. product manuals, technical/application ppts, etc.
  • Support Sales with in-depth product knowledge and arbitrate on technical support issues, capitalising on team knowledge.
  • Partner with the Grid Solutions Marketing team to ensure the best image, impact, and professionalism of the products viewed in all media, from printed documentation through to powerpoints, videos, Apps, other collateral, and the www.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Demonstrated years of experience in product management, product marketing, and/or technical application, in grid automation portfolios.
  • A good knowledge of Power System and Protection Applications for Transmission, Generation, Distribution, Industry, and Rail segments.
  • Specialist knowledge of utility, industrial, and rail Grid Automation markets and their technologies.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25% of the time.
  • Previous experience in product management practices and activities within GE, together with commercial customer knowledge and established relationships.
  • Techno-commercial awareness.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously within stringent time constraints, requires discretion and independent judgment, and the ability to maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Knowledge of Product Development Process related to embedded and PC-based software and hardware in the Grid Automation protection and control field.
  • Familiarity with product Quality metrics.
  • Six Sigma and/or Fastworks training would be a bonus.
