Job Title: Accident and Emergency Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Accident and Emergency Specialist to join our team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to children and young people in our hospital environment.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the play needs of children and young people in our care.
  • Use play as a tool to communicate and build rapport with children and young people, promoting their emotional well-being and reducing anxiety.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the children's emergency department, paediatrics, and other healthcare professionals to provide a holistic approach to care.
  • Develop and implement play programs that cater to the diverse needs of children and young people, including those with acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and disabilities.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to create a positive and supportive environment that promotes the social, emotional, and developmental needs of children and young people.
Requirements:
  • Current registration with HPSET or overseas equivalent.
  • A recognised foundation degree in Healthcare Play specialism or level 4 Diploma in specialised play for Sick children and Young people or equivalent qualification in Hospital play.
  • Documented evidence of continuing Professional Development (HPSET Audit Profile).
  • 3-5 years' experience in childcare settings, with experience/knowledge of different cultures and ethnic groups.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, young people, and healthcare professionals.
