Job Title: Accident and Emergency Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Accident and Emergency Specialist to join our team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, holistic play services to children, young people, and their families within our paediatric department.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the play needs of children and young people
  • Use play as a tool to communicate and build rapport with children and young people
  • Work closely with colleagues in the children's emergency department and multidisciplinary team
  • Provide interesting and stimulating play for children, young people, and their families
  • Highlight the importance of play in assisting an atraumatic experience and aiding distraction to all health professionals
Person Specification:
  • Current registration with HPSET or overseas equivalent
  • A recognised foundation degree in Healthcare Play specialism or level 4 Diploma in specialised play for Sick children and Young people or equivalent qualification in Hospital play
  • Documented evidence of continuing Professional Development (HPSET Audit Profile)
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
  • Additional training relevant to role
  • Membership of Professional Body (NAPHPS or CLC)
  • Experience during training or employment working with children within a hospital setting
