About the Role
University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Maternity Care Specialist to join our team. As a Maternity Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to women and their families during the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide continuity of care to women and their families, working autonomously to attend women during the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, other agencies, and user representatives to engage with women and their families and promote woman-centered care.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with women and their families, providing emotional support and guidance throughout their pregnancy and postnatal journey.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote high-quality care and improve patient outcomes.
- Participate in education and training programs to enhance your skills and knowledge, staying up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in maternity care.
Requirements
- Registered midwife on the relevant part of the NMC Register.
- Physical Examination of the Newborn (NIPE) qualification.
- Diploma or degree in midwifery.
- Completion of preceptorship.
- Competent clinical skills and knowledge across all areas of midwifery practice.
- Understanding of clinical priorities and ability to work with the wider multidisciplinary team.
