About the Role

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated and passionate midwife to join our team. As a Midwife Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to women and their families throughout the perinatal period.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of birthing people, providing antenatal care and supporting them throughout their pregnancy journey.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide labour care in all areas of maternity care, including labour ward, low-risk birth centers, and home births.
  • Attend safeguarding, Perinatal Mental Health, and other multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure comprehensive care for our patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized care and support plans for birthing people who require extra support.
  • Provide enhanced postnatal care to families and newborns, including parent education and support.
  • Work in a continuity model of care to improve outcomes for birthing people and families from disadvantaged backgrounds and those from the Global Majority specific ethnicities with additional risk factors.

Person Specification
  • Registered midwife on the relevant part of the NMC Register.
  • Diploma or degree in midwifery.
