About the Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced Welding Systems Specialist to join our team at BAE Systems. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, utilizing your skills in robotic welding systems, programming, and fault finding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for state-of-the-art robotic welding systems.
  • Identify opportunities for the adoption of robotic and automated technologies within our production environment.
  • Develop and implement solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Support the development and approval of welding procedure specifications.
  • Investigate emerging process technology and consumables for applicability to submarine construction.
  • Conduct routine process audits to investigate defect trends and facilitate improvement.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience with ABB IRC5 robotic systems, including programming, fault finding, and rectification.
  • Qualified to BSc/BEng level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of main welding processes typically used for structural and piping applications within a heavy engineering environment.
