Key Responsibilities- Ensure Vessel Safety and Compliance: Oversee the maintenance of Company vessels to ensure they are safe and seaworthy, adhering to client, senior management, flag state administrations, and classification societies' requirements.
- Operational Efficiency: Ensure managed vessels are operated efficiently to minimize downtime and maintain client assets.
- Shipboard Activities: Oversee all ship operations, shipboard activities, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Communication and Liaison: Act as the principal point of contact between ship and shore-based staff, facilitating effective communication and coordination.
- Auditing and Monitoring: Conduct regular audits and monitoring of vessel operations to ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.
- Advice and Guidance: Provide technical advice and guidance to vessel staff and Company management on matters related to vessel operations.
- Insurance and Claims: Assist in the preparation of insurance claims and submissions.
- Performance Management: Participate in the periodic appraisals of senior officers and provide feedback on their performance.
- Hybrid Working: The role offers the opportunity for hybrid working, dependent on commercial demands.
- Qualifications: Qualifications to perform as a key member of the shipboard management team, fulfilling the rank of at least second engineer or chief officer.
- Experience: Demonstrable experience at sea, with experience as part of the on-board management team, and onshore experience working for a shipping company in an operations team.
- Knowledge and Skills: Extensive knowledge and experience of ISM/ISPS and MLC, demonstrable knowledge of vessel operations, safety procedures, and commercial acumen.
- Interpersonal and Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
