Job Purpose

The Procurement Specialist will play a key role in supporting the Procurement Manager in covering various spend areas, ensuring that relevant supporting activities, including systems management and reporting, are completed in line with institutional and statutory needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain effective customer relationships with stakeholders, ensuring that APUC Ltd is seen as a source of expert guidance and support.
  • Manage and negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with Scottish/UK procurement legislation and best practices.
  • Provide data analysis and insights to inform procurement decisions, using advanced spreadsheet skills and financial models.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement procurement strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, applying knowledge of contract law, supply chain management, and procurement legislation to inform decision-making.

Requirements

  • Highly responsive customer management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide insights.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships.
  • Proven experience in procurement and supply chain management, with a strong understanding of Scottish/UK procurement legislation and best practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
