Procurement Specialist Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a pioneering, start-up chemistry company based in the UK. The organisation is focused on creating innovative molecules, drugs, and materials, and is building an infrastructure to digitise chemistry and discover and produce molecules on demand.

The company has experienced substantial growth since its inception and is planning to expand overseas to Europe and the US in the coming years. We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join and develop our in-house procurement team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the chemistry team, engineering team, laboratory operations team, management, and other key stakeholders to source, purchase, and deliver critical components to commercial delivery and product development.
  • Establish a world-class supply chain and ensure the success of the overall business by working with the Supply Chain Manager.
  • Improve the controls, quality, audits, and efficiency of processes by working with the Finance team.
  • Implement and continuously improve business-critical activities related to the supply chain by working with the Quality and Operations department.
  • Ensure rapid shipment from vendors and effective delivery to purchasers, taking into account the quality of the products received.
  • Organise service contracts for equipment, ensuring both price and quality are considered to reduce downtime.
  • Approve suppliers and maintain the approved supplier schedule for the purchase of chemicals used in manufacture.
  • Develop effective and stage-appropriate processes for order requests, fulfilment, and delivery.
Requirements:
  • An experienced procurement professional with a degree in logistics and supply chain management or relevant work experience.
  • Comfortable purchasing an array of goods and services, carrying out both direct and indirect procurement.
