About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Community CAMHS Teams in Camden. The Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in schools provides high-quality support to children, young people, and families presenting with mild to moderate concerns. The community CAMHS service supports children and young people's emotional wellbeing needs with evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend a one-year training course and clinical work in the team delivering services to CYP and their families.
  • Be employed at the service and enrolled on a Postgraduate Diploma course; study and perform at an academic level.

Person Specification
  • Qualifications that demonstrate a capacity to complete academic work at postgraduate diploma level.
  • Minimum second-class Bachelor's Degree from a UK University or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in a relevant subject.
  • A training in a mental-health related profession.
Experience
  • Two years' experience of working within a professional setting concerned with the mental health of children and young people or families.
Skills
  • Ability to be flexible and creative in facilitating engagement with children and young people with mental health issues and their families.
  • Ability to adapt communication style according to the varying needs and levels of comprehension of children and young people.
  • Ability to maintain a reflective stance in emotive/challenging interactions with children and their carers.
Knowledge
  • Demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of the challenges associated with mental health issues for children, young people, and their families.
  • Awareness of the evidence base around the treatment of children and young people using a CBT approach.
