Role Overview

As a Customs Compliance Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring our international trade operations run smoothly and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Gathering comprehensive information from diverse sources to facilitate accurate product classification.
  • Executing precise data entry tasks.
  • Conducting and assessing classifications while documenting the rationale behind your decisions.
  • Researching trade agreements, import regulations, and restrictions related to classified items.
  • Collaborating with procurement and international teams to verify product eligibility under applicable regulations.
  • Enhancing and sustaining our classification database, which is derived from various internal data sources.
  • Developing process flow diagrams and informational guides for team members and business stakeholders.
  • Engaging in communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Transferring technical customs expertise to operational teams.

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience in customs operations is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with import and export customs processes.
  • Working knowledge of the UK Tariff Schedule and the General Rules of Interpretation (GIR) is beneficial.
  • A strong aptitude for data analysis.
  • A logical approach and a proactive problem-solving attitude.
  • Proficient in Excel and data management.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor language as needed.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the capability to take initiative.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • German language proficiency is a plus but not mandatory.
