Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at Hays PLC. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil, providing personalized support in a 1:1 setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the classroom for lessons and maintain a safe and clean environment
  • Provide 1:1 care to a child with Special Educational Needs, including physical or mental impairment, learning difficulties, ADHD, or ASD
  • Assist Teachers in preparing lesson materials and school equipment
  • Record and report the child's progress to the Teacher
  • Help the child stay focused during class hours
  • Support Teachers in managing student behavior
  • Improve the core skills of the child with SEN, such as reading and writing
  • Provide a healthy, engaging, and safe learning environment for children
Requirements:
  • Understanding of Special Educational Needs
  • Ability to guide and teach children with SEN (ages 5-11)
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to create an encouraging and appropriate learning environment for children with SEN
  • Empathy and understanding towards children and their needs
  • Ability to respond calmly and constructively under stress
  • Adaptable and flexible working attitude
Essential Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, or equivalent
Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
  • Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or similar
  • Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education or similar
  • T Level in Education and Early Years or similar
