Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Training Officer to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a Clinical Training Officer, you will be responsible for providing clinical training and development to doctors in a clear structure with educational support.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will participate in a full shift 24/7 rota of more experienced doctors who provide support to the junior grade at Morriston ED. Dedicated weekly SPA time will be provided in addition to any required specialty training requirements. The average weekly working hours inclusive of SPA time will not exceed 45 hours per week.
You will be clinically responsible for the diagnosis, supervision and management of patients attending the ED. You will provide initial treatment and assessment of adult and paediatric patients presenting with illness or injury and where necessary arranging for patients to be reviewed or admitted by medical staff from other specialties.

Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- Full GMC Registration with license to practice
- MB BS or recognised equivalent
- 48 months postgraduate experience which includes 12 months emergency medicine equivalent to UK practice OR evidence of ST3 EM Competencies
- Provider status in ALS/ATLS/EPLS

- Commitment to team approach and multi-disciplinary working
- Up to date with current practices in Emergency Medicine
- Evidence of participation in, progressing and completing audit

- Previous experience of working in the NHS/experience of NHS working practices and systems.
Skills
Essential Criteria
- Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance
- Basic understanding of research methodology and demonstrates evidence of ability to learn
- Ability to take independent clinical decisions when necessary and to seek advice from senior doctors as appropriate
