About the Role

The Shift Leader at Tesco is responsible for overseeing the store from the shop floor, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining a positive team atmosphere. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience for customers.
  2. Support colleagues in their daily tasks, ensuring they meet their priorities and take regular breaks.
  3. Open and close the store, ensuring all decisions made are safe for everyone.
  4. Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of a manager for day-to-day queries.
  5. Maintain a clean, tidy, and well-presented store.
  6. Support managers in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events.
  7. Contribute to a positive team atmosphere, promoting inclusivity and respect.
  8. Provide excellent customer service, listening to customers and putting their needs first.
  9. Keep the team well-informed and up-to-date on any changes or updates.
  10. Stay knowledgeable about store performance and look for ways to improve operations.
  11. Coordinate store improvements, removing any obstacles to great service.
  12. Follow health and safety routines and procedures, ensuring colleagues do the same.
  13. Recognize and celebrate colleagues who provide excellent service.
